Instead of subtracting 1 from both sides of the equation and dividing both sides of the equation by 3, we can move parts of the equation across the equals sign.
If we move a bit that was being added on one side, then we subtract it from the other side.
If we move a bit that was being subtracted on one side, then we add it to the other side.
