How do I solve an equation?
There are basically two ways of solving an equation. We'll use a couple of examples to show the two different methods.
Solving an equation basically means you're working out what the unknown value is. So, if we were solving the equation 3d + 17 = 64 then we would be trying to work out what number, the letter d represented.
The first method of solving equations involves performing an identical action to both sides of the equation, in other words, to both sides of the equals sign.
